Aubrey Hruby is a Co-Founder of Insider and an investor in African start-ups. As a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council and advisor to investors, she speaks and writes regularly on African business issues for the Financial Times and Axios. She has interviewed with the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, Al Jazeera, Bloomberg Radio, CNBC, CCTV, and Africa24. Aubrey sits on the board of Invest Africa USA, the private sector advisory board of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and two dynamic Nigerian companies. She is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Young Leader at the Milken Institute. Aubrey teaches at Georgetown University and the co-author of award-winning The Next Africa (Macmillan, 2015). She earned a MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a MA from Georgetown University.

Head of Unlisted Investments, 27four Investment Managers

Rory has managed the 27four Black Business Growth Fund Programme since 2017, focused on investing the South African private equity mid-market. The programme backs black fund managers and has a mix of first time and more experienced GPs to achieve growth and impact through active investment. Prior to joining 27four he spent 10 years at RisCura, as head of their private equity team, and 5 years at Deloitte before that in South Africa and London. In 2010 he initiated South African industry wide performance reporting in collaboration with SAVCA, and in 2012 he created the Bright Africa series of reports on the state of unlisted investments and deal making across the African continent. He has also co-authored private equity research reports with AVCA and EAVCA.

Suzanne Etcheverry is a Managing Director in the Office of Investment Funds, where she identifies, executes, manages, and monitors the performance of OPIC investments in emerging markets private equity funds. Ms. Etcheverry is responsible for a global portfolio of funds that focus on real estate, infrastructure, general growth and expansion, and renewable energy and resources.

Ms. Etcheverry joined OPIC in 2001. Prior to joining the Investment Funds group at OPIC, Ms. Etcheverry served as a director in OPIC’s political risk insurance department. In this position, she underwrote private sector transactions in emerging markets in a wide range of industries, including renewable resources, energy, mining, telecommunications, oil and gas, and manufacturing and services.

Earlier in her career, she advised clients on international trade policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, directed USAID business development projects in Central and Eastern Europe, and analyzed international business opportunities in the telecommunications industry.

Ms. Etcheverry is a graduate of Tulane University, and holds an MBA and a Masters in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh.

Sanjeev Gupta is Africa Finance Corporation’s (AFC) Executive Director for Financial Services and a Member of the Board of Directors. His overall responsibility in AFC includes Treasury, Trade Finance , Debt Syndication , Country & Investor Relations and Financial Advisory. He is a Guest Lecturer at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and at the University of Amsterdam Business School and continues to speak at other universities globally and various think tanks. Mr. Gupta has 30 years of experience in Investment and Fund Management, Private Equity and Corporate Finance. His forte has been to blend together global and indigenous corporates, financial investors and governments to develop commercially viable business and development models that leave a sustainable impact on emerging market economies. Prior to joining AFC, Mr. Gupta was the Managing Partner of Emerging Markets Mergers and Acquisitions Center of Excellence at Ernst and Young. He has also been the Chief Executive Officer of Sanlam Investment Management Emerging Markets operations and was a Founder & Managing Partner of Emerging Opportunity Consulting, an advisory firm specialising in SME financing. Among his other interests, he currently serves as a Non Executive Director and Trustee in UK based NGO Common Purpose ,chairs their Student Programme, is the Advisor to a Dubai based Family Office , mentors young professionals on doing business in emerging markets and also is an Advisory Board Member in Africa’s premier Networking organization Invest Africa. Mr Gupta is an active speaker and writer on emerging market challenges, cultural intelligence and diversity management issues. He has spoken to various audiences and at numerous conferences, webinars and motivational forums. Mr. Gupta is an Alumnus of the Said Business School, University of Oxford, England and also an alumnus of the MIT Sloan School of Management, USA. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, India (FCA).
