Angeli Arora is the Africa Regional Leader for the Global Private Equity Group of Dentons (the largest law firm in the world). Angeli has around 20 years of experience in acting for some of the most prominent funds on high stake, high profile or complex cross-border investments in Africa, Asia and Europe. Angeli has built a reputation amongst her global clients for her ability to help them successfully enter new private equity markets all around the world, including Africa, effectively tackling unchartered legal territories along the way. As a thought leader in her area, Angeli is working hard to promote investment in Africa, for example by assisting portfolio companies improve their corporate governance practices (through free training) so that they are able to build a successful relationship with their investors.

Samuel Touboul is a Senior Investment Officer in Proparco’s Private Equity Africa team. Before joining Proparco, Samuel worked for various private equity funds in France and Europe (LBO and Venture Capital), as well as for various international organizations in Southeast Asia and the United States (United Nations, IFC). He is a graduate of ESSEC, Sciences Po Paris, and holds a PhD from HEC Paris where he continues to teach.

Albert Alsina has three decades of international experience in multinational settings where he held several General Management executive positions at global and European levels in the US, UK, Brazil, Germany, Zimbabwe, Spain and Malta. In 2013, he founded Mediterrania Capital Partners Ltd, which today manages three funds: MC I, MC II and MC III. Nowadays Albert is a member of several Investment Committees and a Board member of several portfolio companies of the three funds.

Albert is a member of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA) Governance Committee and African Council, an active member of the Africa Capital Venture Association (AVCA) Sustainability Committee and an Associate Professor at the EADA Business School in Barcelona.

Albert is an AMP graduate from Harvard Business School (USA). He also completed the Global Leadership Program from Wharton School (USA) and PADE from the IESE Business School (Spain) and holds master’s degrees from Fulda Fachoschule (Germany) and Université de Poitiers (France) as well as a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Barcelona (Spain).

Finnfund’s Investment Manager Markus Pentikäinen has over ten years of experience of emerging market investments and has worked on many of Finnfund’s key sectors, including financial institutions and renewable energy. Supporting Finnfund’s growing focus on healthcare, Markus has been named responsible for investments in this sector. He has executed numerous impactful deals such as supporting the development of high-quality hospitals in Egypt and Morocco where Finnfund’s share of the total 125 million US dollar financing facility was 18,75 million. Markus represents Finnfund in the Investors for Health community that works together to ensure that private and public capital is deployed to achieve impact and to help build out inclusive healthcare systems in emerging markets.

Luc Albinski

Managing Partner, Vantage Capital

Luc is the co-founder and co-managing Partner of Vantage’s mezzanine funds, with responsibilities spanning mezzanine investments’ assessment, structuring, execution and post-transaction monitoring.

Luc is one of two executive members of the Mezzanine Funds’ Investment Committees, and has played a leading role in the thirty investments executed by the three funds since 2007.

Prior to joining Vantage in 2006, Luc spent time as a Strategy Consultant with Bain & Co. in Paris and with Accenture in Johannesburg. After completing his MBA at INSEAD, he joined the International Finance Corporation (IFC) based in Washington DC. At the IFC, Luc worked on advisory and investment projects in Brazil, Gabon, Romania and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

On returning to South Africa in 1998, Luc joined Brait as a Deal Executive responsible for investments in various key sectors.

Luc then spent two years in Poland as founder / CEO of an employee benefits business, before returning to establish Standard Bank’s private equity department, with its focus on mezzanine transactions in the mid-market. Luc went on to head up Standard Bank’s mezzanine finance department, co-leading several noteworthy transactions which included funding for the buy-out of the South Africa subsidiary of Waco International, and providing a R1 billion mezzanine tranche for the De Beers empowerment transaction.

Luc holds an MBA from the INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France. He studied for his undergraduate economics degree at the Institute for Political Studies in Paris.
