Brait hires Botts as Non-Executive Director

South Africa’s Brait has appointed John C. Botts as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective January 29.

South Africa’s Brait has appointed John C. Botts as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective January 29.

Botts has more than 40 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, and private equity.

Botts is senior advisor in the London office of investment firm Allen & Company and a senior advisor and member of the investment committee at Corsair Capital.

He is the non-executive chairman of Euromoney Institutional Investor as well as fulfilling this role on the boards of several privately owned companies.

Botts was the non-executive chairman of United Business Media from 2007 to 2012.

In 1987 he founded his own investment banking and private equity firm, Botts & Company, in conjunction with Allen & Company.

Prior to his current roles, Botts served in a variety of capacities at Citibank, including CEO and then Chairman of Citicorp Investment Bank in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

He also served as chairman of Citicorp’s Venture Capital Investment Committee in Europe.

In 2003, Botts was awarded an Honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in recognition of his contribution to the arts in the UK.

Brait also announced that Colin Keogh has resigned as a Non-Executive Director from the Board with effect from January 29 for personal reasons.

The Board extends their appreciation for his contribution to Brait since his appointment on July 28, 2010.

Brait is an investment holding company focused on driving sustainable long-term growth and value creation in its investment portfolio of sizeable unlisted businesses operating in the broad consumer sector.

Brait’s shares are listed on the EURO MTF market of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and also on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
