Barclays Africa Group has appointed Nothando Ndebele as Head of Financial Institutions Group for Investment Banking in Africa, commencing October 1.

Ndebele will be responsible for leading the strategic and financing dialogue with investment banking clients in the Banks, Insurers and Non-Banking Financial Institutions (NBFIs) sectors across Africa.

“Having spent over 18 years working in financial markets, focused solely on African financial institutions for the past 10 years, Nothando brings a wealth of industry knowledge in the sector to her new role,” said Philip Lindop, Head of Investment Banking, Africa, at Barclays Africa.

Prior to joining Barclays Africa, Ndebele was the Head of Research for Africa and SSA Banks Analyst at Renaissance Capital, and was the top ranked SSA banks analyst for three years.

“Nothando’s skill set and strong focus on investment research, strategy and capital markets is in line with our approach to appoint top talent to best serve our clients, further positioning ourselves as the ‘Go-To’ bank in Africa,” added Lindop.

Over the course of her career in financial markets Ndebele has spent time at Deutsche Securities, Goldman Sachs, Investec Asset Managers, Afena Capital and Africap Microfinance Investment Company.
