The African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCA) has launched the Stakeholder Advocacy and Communications  Committee (SACC), an advisory group that will work with AVCA to advance and promote its advocacy-led stakeholder engagement.

Led by co-Chairs Ghada Hammouda, Chief Marketing Officer & Head of Marketing Communications at Qalaa Holdings (formerly Citadel Capital), and Rory Macmillan, Director, External Affairs – EMEA at The Carlyle Group, the Committee will enhance AVCA’s role as the authoritative voice for the private equity and venture capital asset class in Africa by adding to the depth of the resources and knowledge framework that AVCA provides to its members, as well as the industry.

Hammouda said: “Africa, with its strong growth fundamentals, is ripe with investment opportunities. Today, more than ever, AVCA is playing a pivotal role in promoting and catalysing the private equity and venture capital asset class in Africa. I am proud to be launching this Committee, a very timely initiative given the rapidly evolving landscape.”

“The SACC is dedicated to supporting AVCA in continuing to shape and disseminate value-added information about the dynamic growth story in Africa, in order to deepen global awareness of the continent’s unique market characteristics and diversity,” she added.

Over the next year, the Committee will assist AVCA to further build on its compendium of industry research and materials elevating awareness and understanding of private equity and venture capital in Africa.

“Investor appetite for Africa is continuously increasing due to a confluence of robust economic growth, increasing political stability and democratisation, the return of a talented pool from the diaspora, and a diverse range of investment opportunities,” said Macmillan.

“I am honoured to be a founding member of AVCA’s SACC, particularly as we have engaged such a diverse group of experienced communications practitioners to support AVCA as it promotes the positive progress and impact of private equity and venture capital in Africa,” he added.
